SHEPLER’S CELEBRATE 50 GOLDEN YEARS
Leonard E. Shepler and Elvena Joy Stucky were married Nov. 30th, 1952 at the Grabill Evangelical Mennonite Church. Leonard worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as an elementary teacher for 17 years, and retired in 1983. His wife, Joy worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and retired in 1982.
Their children are Douglas E. Shepler, Ft. Wayne, and Timothy R. Shepler of Hoover, Alabama. They have a son, Davis L., deceased in 1996, and a daughter Rebecca A. Shepler, deceased in 2001.
Leonard and Elvena met while he was ministering at the Sunshine Mission where Elvena played the piano and worked in the mission bookstore.
They served a short term in Mexico in 1953, dropping gospels from an airplane. They made trips into the backcountry to distribute bibles for Airmail From God Missions. They also served churches in Bluffton, IN, Harrisville, IN, and Ohio. They will celebrate their anniversary Dec. 1st at Hall’s Restaurant in Coventry with a family dinner.
