WAYNEDALE BRANCH LIBRARY OPEN
The Waynedale Branch of the Allen County Public Library opened to the public beginning Monday, December 20, 2004. The Allen County Public Library is expanding and renovating 11 of its 13 branches and the main library as part of an $84 million expansion project approved by the citizens of Allen County in 2001. Kelty Taylor Design, Inc. was responsible for the design of the building and the local contractor was R. E. Crosby.
The Waynedale Branch had been closed since March 13, 2004. The building has been expanded from 8,754 square feet to 13,991 square feet. The existing building was extensively remodeled creating a seamless integration between the old and new sections of the branch. The branch features a redesigned entryway located on the North side of the building, a new circulation area, a public meeting room, expanded children’s area, increased circulating materials, as well as, an expanded parking area.
