IN FAITH
CHOOSE YOUR PILOT CAREFULLY
While serving in the U.S. Navy during WW2, I was a turret gunner in a torpedo bomber. After completing a mission, we were returning to the base, when all of a sudden the pilot called on the radio for the belly gunner to bail out. The landing gear was not down and locked, which could cause a crash landing.
The belly gunner put on his chest pack parachute, opened the door and jumped. I looked at my chute, about a 2X2 foot square. At the open bilge door I saw what 5,000 feet up looked like. I looked at my little chute, picked up the ‘mike’ and asked my pilot what he was going to do?
He said he was going to fly back. I relayed that he had a passenger. I went back to the turret and belted myself in. We landed and the gear stayed down. Thank God and a great pilot. The belly gunner was picked up and only had a broken nose. Many times I think about my pilot and my trust in him.
Since then I have trusted another pilot. And I have found Him to be faithful and true. He not only keeps me safe, He forgave my sins and set me free! His name is Jesus. I can put all my faith in Him! I know all my landings will be safe with my Lord at the controls. He makes sure my wheels are down and locked!
God is Good All the Time…All the Time God is Good.
