RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP DAY
Fort Wayne, IN and Surrounding Community Residents Invited to Participate In Nationwide Celebration this September 22, 2007
The Northeastern Indiana Kennel Club (NEIKC) announced that it will celebrate AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (RDO Day) along with other community groups on September 22, 2007. The goal of this initiative, supported by the American Kennel Club, is to educate first-time dog owners about the responsibilities of dog ownership and help current owners enhance their relationship with their pets.
The event will be held at Kelly Chevrolet (outside) 500 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne with hours from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and is free to the public.
Topics and organizations joining the celebration include:
“Meet the Breeds” dog show demo with NEIKC, team obedience and rally demonstrations presented by the Fort Wayne Obedience Training Club; therapy dogs from Three Rivers Visiting Dogs; library visiting dogs from Paws to Read; K-9 Search and Rescue from St. Joe Township Fire Department; adoption dogs from Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control and from the Allen County SPCA, breed rescue groups, and veterinarians. Families will receive information on animal health care and nutrition, bite prevention education, local animal care regulations, and pet care.
