LESTER “SHORTY” W. DAFFORN, 93, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, October 5, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital. Born September 21, 1914, in Allen County, he was a farmer and toolmaker at General Electric, retiring after 35 years in 1975. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church, General Electric Quarter Century Club and IA of M Lodge 70. He loved gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Dafforn of Fort Wayne; son, Keith W. (Jan) Dafforn of Huntington; daughters, Barbara J. (James) Minich of North Ft. Myers, Florida and Rozie (Tom) Dapp of Fort Wayne; stepdaughter, Phyllis E. (Randy) Riley of Palmetto, Florida; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, C. Grace Dafforn, in 1978; four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service was Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation was Monday, October 8, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
