PICNIC IN THE PARK ‘09

The Waynedale Picnic was a huge success with over 1300 people attending our 7th annual “Picnic in the Park.” The picnic was made possible by neighborhood associations, local businesses and some private individuals. There were over 140 sponsors. We had 50 volunteers and approximately 35 vendors who helped with support.

The picnic included 550 young children that participated in games and other activities, such as the MoonWalk, Sticky Wall, obstacle course and a play land. We also had face painting, tattoos, character drawings and balloon makers for the children. The craft tent and bingo tent was enjoyed by children and adults. DJ music and the German choir entertained all.

This year’s picnic included: classic and race cars, a fire truck, the K-9 units from the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police, who presented free bike helmets to those interested.

There were free door prizes, items and gift certificates handed out to “kids of all ages” throughout the event. The food tent served donated food items and drinks. Pizza was served as well as ice cream and cake.

Waynedale’s “Picnic in the Park” is a tradition to bring families and friends back to Waynedale and its park. It is free to all that come and enjoy. See you there next year!

Thank you to all who participated,

Beulah Matczak and Cheryl Connett
