BEAUTIFUL AFTERNOON FOR THE MONARCH FESTIVAL
A plethora of Monarch Butterflies were tagged and released at the Monarch Festival on Sunday, September 10. From Eagle Marsh, 6801 Engle Road, Fort Wayne, IN these butterflies are migrating their way to central Mexico for the winter.
Visitors were able to view the monarch from caterpillar to adult stages, learning all about their life cycle and the migration that the butterfly takes every year. Also included at the Monarch Festival were presentations by Southwest Honey Co., Soarin’ Raptors and authors.
Milkweed, the only food a caterpillar will eat, was planted and free for the taking. Along with that, crafts for children, a silent auction of rain barrels and a farmer’s market made up the fun-filled day.
