And summer is so close…
And with that, so many events to celebrate!

The Stand “Coneys & Ice Cream” on Bluffton Road is set to celebrate! This homegrown fast-casual restaurant known for its hot dogs and ice cream has scooped up some 11 years in business!

A compelling story-
In 2004 co-owners Skip Sandels and Mike Palmer opened the doors offering a variety of hot dogs. There was the traditional hot dog, coney dog, jalapeno dog and cheese dog. Plus, The Stand was the “first” to list on their menu The Waynedale Dog. If you have never heard of The Waynedale Dog you need to try it. It is an original Coney Dog, with a meaty coney sauce made from scratch, with seasoned beef, and its own secret coleslaw.

The Stand also offers the VIC-tory dog, JPF dog, and a “Dog of the Day.” Your “Dog of the Day” could be the Pickle Dog, Southwest Dog, Greek Dog, Texas Dog or Carribean Jerk Dog.

More than hotdogs! The Stand also serves up a mean scoop of ice cream or yogurt. Cone, dish, smoothie, shake or float.

Hungry-goers will also find Lemon Shakeups with the option to add a cherry, raspberry or strawberry flavor.

When asked, “What is your key to success?” Mike Palmer said, “It was our focus on service.” The Stand’s current owners, Mike and Ryan Palmer, and Skip Sandels, feel blessed to have a loyal staff of high school and college students from Southside, Bishop Luers, Concordia, Wayne, and Nu Tech as part of their working team.

The longest employee is Kaylee Colvin, she has been with The Stand 10 years. Jamie Uecker and Laura Bayard, 8 years, and Lisa Braun, 5 years.

This team’s hard work and dedication has grown, and so has this thriving business, which now includes catering.
Palmer and Sandels really care about the business they have built. They care about customers, the employees and the community. “Some of the friendliest customers you ever come across get together at The Stand,” said Skip.
And this is what brought them success.

Mike, Ryan and Skip would like to thank the entire community of Waynedale for the past 11 years of continued support.

While locals will be hard pressed to tell which Stand delight is their favorite, there is no way to go wrong when you luxuriate in coneys & ice cream. Open 7 days a week-Monday through Sunday, The Stand provides a relaxing hangout for people of all ages.
