BEULAH JANE “BOO” STEPHENS
BEULAH JANE “BOO” STEPHENS, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Grabill, she was the daughter of the late William H. Bertsch and Wilma Beer. She received her B.A. and Masters from Heidelberg University and a Masters from St. Francis College. She was a teacher and counselor with F.W.C.S. for 32 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Grace St. John’s United Church of Christ, Retired Teachers Association, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Family & Consumers Science, Festival Peace Choir, and International Farm Youth Exchange (I.F.Y.E.).
Surviving are her husband, James Stephens of Fort Wayne; son, Thomas J. (Debbie) Stephens of Carmel; brother, Rev. William (Betty) Bertsch of Three Oaks, Michigan; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole and Natasha Stephens, all of Carmel.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace St. John’s United Church of Christ, 4120 S. Webster St. Pastor Julia Goodall and Pastor Linnea Bartling officiating. Arrangements by Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road.
