LAVONA LUCILLE TURPCHINOFF, 100, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Renaissance Village. She was born May 16, 1911 in Fort Wayne to the late Dell and Eliza (Wilcoxson) Johnson. She worked as a seamstress at Wayne Knitting Mills in her early years; then she and her husband owned and operated Christ Place Restaurant prior to her working at Lutheran Hospital where she retired in 1978. Mrs. Turpchinoff was a former member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her son, Gary (Liz) Turpchinoff of Hudson, Indiana; grandchildren, Richard, Larry, Brad, Ria, Chris, and Kelly; and 13 great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Elo K. Turpchinoff in 1966; daughter, Marquita Yager; grandson, Kerry Yager; three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service was Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation is also Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
