CELEBRATING OUR ANNIVERSARY

ALEX CORNWELL, PUBLISHER WAYNEDALE NEWSGreetings Waynedalers! I am proud to announce that September 2nd marks the 79th year anniversary of The Waynedale Newspaper and our completion of the second year as your new publishers. We would like to thank all of our readers for their patronage as well as their news tips, articles, donations, and comments that make the newspaper something the community can continue to enjoy into the future.

79 years ago, editor and publisher Arden McCoy began production of the newspaper in a garage with what we would consider crude equipment in today’s standards. Since then, the newspaper has continued to carry on the same tradition of announcing positive Waynedale news just as it did with the first issue. With technology advances, the newspaper began to grow in physical size, color was added and more were printed. Today, with our team of 20 writers, an editor, a sales representative, 2 publishers and our 14 newspaper carriers, together we produce a newspaper with premium newsprint and digital color that over 30,000 readers enjoy every two weeks.

With our organization’s mission in mind, over the past year we have begun and completed more community projects than ever before, in addition to our regular newspaper responsibilities. Some of the projects you may have heard of or been involved with include: Waynedale.com, the Waynedale Apparel Fundraiser and more. Keep an eye out for The 2012 Waynedale Visitor’s guide. We have been receiving many calls from you regarding it, and are excited to see it help each Waynedaler learn about the community and find things they need. Also, I am proud to announce our newspaper’s website (waynedalenews.com) has now grown to over 40,000 visitors every month!

We value our successes by means of community action. As an organization designed to meet community objectives that enhance the wellbeing of those who live, work or visit the greater Waynedale area, we greatly appreciate all of your support. Thank you to all who read the newspaper, support our advertisers and sponsors, and mention The Waynedale News name. To all who visit our network of websites and interact with other visitors to comment on articles. Thank You to everyone who is in support of Waynedale!
