MEET THE “DOC” WHO STILL LOVES TO MAKE HOUSE CALLS

BILL & NANCY OF DOC DANCERDepending upon your age, you may recall a time when doctors cared for sick patients at home. Those “house calls” were commonplace in 1946, when Robert Dancer was struggling with what to call his new heating and air conditioning business. A physician friend suggested the name “Doc” since he would care for “sick” furnaces. Thus, “Doc” Dancer Heating and Air Conditioning was born.

Perhaps that physician realized that comfortable homes were healthy places, making the name “Doc” Dancer appropriate. In any event, the name “Doc” Dancer has become synonymous in Fort Wayne with honesty, integrity, caring and quality. Contrary to what some people may think, however, this respected, Fort Wayne business is not run by dancing doctors.

In 1967, Willis Bulmahn purchased the business from the Dancer Family. Over the next three decades Willis and his team of technicians worked diligently to grow “Doc” Dancer Heating and Air Conditioning into a prominent Fort Wayne business known for keeping Fort Wayne area residents comfortable at home or business, providing top-quality, reliable heating and cooling systems and dependable, professional installation and maintenance services.

Willis’ son-in-law, Bill Berning, Jr., joined the company in 1983, learning the ropes of the business. When Willis passed away in 1998, Bill used his expertise to continue the company’s excellence. In 2001, Willis’ daughter and Bill’s wife Nancy Berning joined the business. Together with their dedicated team of comfort experts, they continue to operate the business. They are proud to be Fort Wayne’s oldest locally-owned, family-operated heating and air conditioning company.

Things that set “Doc” Dancer apart from its competition include:

•A BBB business accreditation with an A+ rating and the winner of the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

•High-quality Rheem equipment – rated #1 by Consumer Reports

•Locally-owned family business that is big enough to serve you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but small enough to know you and care about your comfort

•Licensed, uniformed service employees who pass background checks and drug testing

•NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certified technicians

•Adherence to Allen County building codes and permits for all required projects

“Doc” Dancer has always been at the forefront of technology. In the 1970s, the “Doc” offered innovative “Space Pak” cooling system and air duct cleanings. Today, they are promoting environmentally-healthy solutions such as energy-efficient geothermal options and high efficiency heat pumps. It’s all good both for people and our Planet: just what you’d expect from the “Doc”!

Bill & Nancy are thankful for their dedicated, knowledgeable employees, and for their many loyal, long-time customers. They appreciate the opportunity with which God has entrusted them: to keep families comfortable and healthy in their homes and businesses. The “Doc” is in and awaiting your call at 260-744-3251.
