MARJORIE E. SHOMO, 90
MARJORIE E. SHOMO, 90, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Hospice Home. She was born December 10, 1920 in Decatur to the late Albert and Dorothy (Peterson) Wehmeyer. Mrs. Shomo retired in 1987 from the V. A. Hospital as a dental assistant. She served in the Navy Waves during WWII. After retirement she worked for the Peace Corp and taught in Papua, New Guinea. She then volunteered for The Red Cross, Matthew 25 and ACTS. Mrs. Shomo was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and stayed active with her group of friends from school. She enjoyed and lived an active life serving as a role model for family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Judith Shomo of Indianapolis, Joseph Shomo and Joyce (Rick) Marks both of Wolcottville; seven grandchildren including Steve and Rick Bade, Amy Hasselman, Dawn Parker, and Kristina Shomo; seven great grandchildren and sister, Florence Yager.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was a son, John Shomo in 1980.
Funeral service was Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN with calling two hours prior to services. Burial was in Highland Park.
