WILLIAM L. METZ, 96
WILLIAM L. METZ, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed away at his home on Friday, May 13, 2011. He was born August 31, 1914 to the late Lloyd and Gertrude Metz. Mr. Metz was a member of the Salvation Army, serving the Lord and volunteering his services for 30 years. He had received the William Booth Award from the Salvation Army General, the first time a local volunteer had been so honored. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for 30 years and was self-employed.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jeannette; children, Carol Renier, Jerry (Joyce) Metz and Ken (Sue) Metz; step children, Larry (Libby) Reynolds and Flora Mae O’Dell; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren; and brothers, Robert and Forest Metz.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial was in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
