WAYNEDALE CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENT PLANS OPEN HOUSE

When envisioning the future, what items should be focused on that will lead to a better quality of life for residents in Waynedale? There are two organizations that have spent the past year studying that question.

The Waynedale Business Chamber’s Corridor Committee and The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Department have been working to create a plan that addresses the current and future needs of the Waynedale Community’s Corridor. This includes the intersection of Bluffton and Lower Huntington Roads. The plan was developed through a process that incorporated community surveying, stakeholder meetings, field assessments and studying best practices.

The focal points of the plan are based on four primary ideas which include: 1) Improving connectivity and safety for all modes of transportation, 2) Developing streetscape enhancements, 3) Encouraging zoning that is compatible with neighborhood development and reinvestment, and, 4) Enhancing the Waynedale brand to highlight the community’s identity, history and pride.

Now that Waynedale’s Corridor Improvement Plan is in its final stages, The Chamber and Community Development will be hosting a Corridor Informational Open House on Tuesday, June 27 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street, Fort Wayne, IN 49809. The public is invited to stop in anytime during the event hours to learn about and provide input on a plan to improve the corridor. Representatives will be available to discuss the plan, answer questions, and collect your comments and suggestions. Each attendee will have the option to enter a free raffle held for prizes provided by local businesses and light refreshments will be available, courtesy of Kingston Residence.

A survey will be available to be taken at the event or it can be taken online (ends Aug. 26, 2017): waynedale.com/survey/

The Waynedale Business Chamber’s Corridor Committee and The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Department look forward to seeing you and discussing the future vision of this important community corridor. If you have preliminary questions about the event, please contact Holli Duncan in the Community Development Department at (260) 427-2175.
