IT ISN’T PRESCHOOL, IT ISN’T CHILDCARE

Mornings with Mommy is a new community program being offered in the Waynedale area starting in May. It isn’t preschool and it isn’t childcare. It’s something different. Mornings with Mommy uses themed educational playdates for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It is a fun and easy way for moms or caretakers to enjoy activities with their children and meet other moms. These activities include arts and crafts, sensory table, story time, music, educational toys, and a snack.

Mornings with Mommy programs can be found all around the country including Florida, California, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and many others.

Jennifer Brenner, the director of Mornings with Mommy-Fort Wayne, is currently a stay at home mom. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has five years of teaching experience including two years teaching 1st-2nd graders in China. She loves to travel and spend time with her husband, daughter, and dog Lilo in Fort Wayne.

Why start Mornings with Mommy? Jennifer explains, “Being a new stay at home mom, I always found myself wanting to get out of the house and socialize with other adults, while also being with my daughter. Mornings with Mommy will not only provide a time for adults to socialize and meet new people in the community, but is also a great way for children who aren’t preschool age yet to learn how to play and be with other children in an organized setting. They will also have the comfort of their guardian right alongside them the whole time.”

Mornings with Mommy will meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10am-11am at Holy Scripture Lutheran Church, 8811 Kinnerk Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819. The cost is $5 per family per session, which goes toward snack and craft supplies. Infants 0-6 months are free. Payment can be made by cash or check at the beginning of each session. Advance registration is required. How can you sign up? Go to www.holyscripturefw.org and find “registration” under the Mornings with Mommy tab. You can also call (260) 478-1717. The first session is Wednesday, May 3rd, so hurry to register!
