CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON IN WAYNEDALE
With the holidays just around the corner, Waynedale will begin to look and feel festive for the season. There will be many events for you and your family to celebrate at local restaurants, shops and churches. As we head into the holidays, be sure to keep a close eye on our Community Calendar, Worship In Waynedale and Feature Sections for opportunities for you to connect with other members of our great community in celebration of the season.
As you begin to look for gifts for your friends and loved ones, look in Waynedale first! Waynedale has so many businesses, just take a look around at what we have in our community before taking a car ride to a “big box store” or jumping on the internet. To help you find businesses who are taking an initiative to better the community, Waynedale Business Chamber members now have identifying chamber stickers in public view. From an economic standpoint, money we spend on local items by-in-large stays in the community. This holiday season, let’s look after and show appreciation to the businesses we have and want to keep!
A unique event is coming up in Waynedale- A Holiday Wreath Display that will be on show from November 30 to December 9 at the Waynedale Library. The first of its kind in our area, 20 local businesses in the Waynedale Business Chamber have volunteered to decorate their own 24” artificial wreath that will be on display and able to be bid on by the public. While on display, the wreaths will be available for anyone to come and see what creativity our local businesses have put into their wreath. Winners of the silent auction will be notified on December 9 after 2pm and can then make arrangements to pickup their ‘won’ wreath to hang at their home for the holidays. This fundraiser’s proceeds will go towards the Waynedale Community Improvement Team, which organizes free community ‘togetherness’ events for kids and families and also advocates for sidewalks and trails in the area.
In addition to the Holiday Wreath Display, the Waynedale Community Improvement Team has also organized a free Holiday Coloring Contest for children of the community to win prizes. Beginning in December participating restaurants in the Waynedale area will have a coloring page that kids can color and turn in, to be entered to win a raffle prize. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of age groups and parents of winners will be notified by December 21.
Tis the season to be festive, to be thankful and to be cheerful. Let’s all celebrate together in Waynedale! Find opportunities to get out in the community, to be active and make real connections with our neighbors this season.
