LITTLE RIVER WETLANDS PROJECT CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Little River WetlandsLocal land trust Little River Wetlands Project will host its sixth annual Frogapalooza fundraiser on Friday, October 23 (6 to 9 p.m.) at the Fort Wayne Country Club. This year’s event, presented by Phillips Financial Services, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of LRWP’s founding.

“Our theme is ‘take your imagination for a hike,’” explains LRWP executive director Amy Silva, “because our founders certainly did that when they started a nonprofit with the mission of restoring some of Indiana’s lost wetlands in our area.”

LRWP now protects almost 1,200 acres, mainly restored wetland nature preserves. Its properties include 716-acre Eagle Marsh in southwest Fort Wayne, the largest urban inland wetland restoration in the United States.

The group also offers free nature education programs that serve thousands of children and adults every year.

Frogapalooza will begin with drinks (cash bar), hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction with items from hard-to-get sports tickets to entertainment packages to unique nature experiences. After dinner and a brief presentation on LRWP’s future plans, a live auction will offer one-of-a-kind getaways as well as gourmet experiences and a Lake Erie fishing weekend.

Tickets are $100 per person, $800 for a table of eight or $1,000 for a table of ten. Call 260-478-2515 to pay by credit card or mail a check to LRWP, 7902 Engle Road, Suite 200, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. For more details, including a list of auction items available to date, visit www.lrwp.org/frog , email info@lrwp.org or call 260-478-2515.
