On Thursday, August 13, 2015, Lutheran Hospital Adult and Pediatric Level II Trauma Centers, in conjunction with Indiana AARP Driver Safety, will offer an AARP Driver Safety class at Lutheran Hospital, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a 4-hour class aimed at keeping older drivers on the road safely and saving lives. AARP Driver Safety volunteer instructor Les Pence will be teaching the class.
Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads you travel every day. Some drivers age 50+ have never looked back since they got their first driver’s licenses, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving through a classroom experience.
By taking a driver safety course you will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You will learn how you can manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
You may be eligible to receive an insurance discount upon completing the course, so consult your agent for details. You might also be eligible to receive a discount on roadside assistance plans.
Founded in 1979 and completely revised to reflect current auto and road technology, the AARP Driver Safety program has helped millions of drivers stay safe on the roads. Although the course is geared to drivers age 50 and older, the course is open to people of all ages. After attending the course, you will receive a certificate of completion that can be presented to your insurance agent for a possible reduction in your auto insurance premiums.
This 4-hour class is scheduled to begin at 10 am at Lutheran Hospital, 7950 West Jefferson Boulevard, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Please call 1-260-435-2500 and ask for Lisa Beaupre to register for the class or further information. Call today because class size is limited.
The cost to AARP members is $15 and only $20 for non-AARP members. If you are already an AARP member, you must bring your membership card with you to qualify for the member discount price. Participants should also bring their driver’s license.
Class members are asked to arrive 20 minutes early to complete registration; the class will begin promptly at 10am sharp and will end at approximately 2:30pm. The class will break at 12 noon for a light lunch and resume at 12:30 pm.
