ORTHODONTICS – Ask The Expert
We all want what is best for our children. To provide them with the advantages we didn’t have is every parent’s dream. Achieving the dream can be difficult and even a little overwhelming. There are so many things to think about when considering orthodontic treatment: time constraints, budget concerns and who to trust to give your child a healthy, happy and confident smile.
If you’ve been hiding your smile because you have crooked teeth or gaps between them, it’s time to see an orthodontist. You will be surprised at how efficient today’s techniques can straighten that smile! And, if you are apprehensive about traditional braces, clear brackets or Invisalign may be your preferred treatment option.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE FIRST VISIT TO THE ORTHODONTIST?
You will find that at Bussick Orthodontics your first and all of your visits will be fun and exciting times! You will be greeted by the front office coordinators who will help you sign in.
Once signed in, the records expert will come and meet the patient, and parent or guardian, and take you to the records area.
For the doctor to have a complete picture of what is going on and what type of treatment you may need, photos and xrays are necessary. The records process takes just a few minutes and is completely painless.
It is fun to see your teeth up close and personal!
Once the records are done, you will meet a Treatment Coordinator (TC). The TC will be your liaison with the doctor and help you throughout your treatment process. You will receive a tour of the office and meet the staff team members. The TC will ask you in detail what your main concerns are, take some notes and bring in the orthodontist to do the exam. The orthodontist will look at the patient’s teeth and mouth, the records and then explain if any treatment is necessary.
This is when you will discuss how long treatment will take, financing and any other aspects you may be concerned with. Ask as many questions as you want. That’s what this appointment is all about.
Since you and the orthodontist will all essentially be “family” during the year or two of treatment, it will be important that a good relationship is established and everything is explained in detail before any treatment is started.
By the end of your new patient appointment, the patient and parent will be educated about what is going on and what is required to create a beautiful smile.
