LUERS & DWENGER FRESHMAN INVITED TO GERMANY

Kennedy Brough and Karsyn KleinrichertKennedy Brough and Karsyn Kleinrichert are teammates on Fort Wayne United Soccer Club U15 Academy Team; they are also members of Indiana Olympic Development Program (ODP team).

Indiana ODP will be taking a group of 18 girls age 15-16 to Germany for 10 days to train and compete. It’s part of a reciprocating program with German Soccer.

Out of a pool of at least 100 top Indiana ODP Soccer players (aged 15-16), two of our very own from Fort Wayne were invited to attend.

Even more amazing, these two standouts have not only played on the same club team since they’ve been 4, starting at Three Rivers Youth Soccer Association, then playing for Sports Club, and finally landing two spots on Fort Wayne Fever/FortWayne United when they were 9, but they’ve been bonded since birth as best friends, confidants, and at times vicious competitors! Both girls have been raised in soccer families who are best friends, attended the same grade school St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth Catholic School, attended each other’s family birthdays, events, all the while playing soccer constantly together. They were invited to play Super Y (an integrated team that competes nationally) in years past…these girls just instinctively know what the other’s going to do on the field…no words need said…they find each other, connect and score goals!

They’ve been on the same soccer team their whole lives with club, and it wasn’t until this fall, as one chose to attend Bishop Luers, and the other chose to attend Bishop Dwenger, were they pitted against each other for the first time on the pitch! Sure they’ve fought over boys, friends, and life as any best friends do, but they’ve never had to take opposite sides on the soccer field until last fall…

After a long fall season apart, they’re finally back on the same side of the field, working together, producing great outcomes for their Fort Wayne United team, and June 2-June 10, they’ll be representing the state of Indiana and the United States in Germany!

There’s a lot more to their work and dedication and friendship too..
