LRWP TO HONOR FOUNDERS
Local nonprofit Little River Wetlands Project will hold a free event to honor its founders at its Arrowhead Marsh preserve (8624 Aboite Road, Roanoke) on Saturday, November 16, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to meet founders Paul McAfee, Dick Poor, Sam Schwartz, and Ron Zartman and to help dedicate a “Founders’ Circle” to the twelve individuals who formed LRWP 23 years ago.
Then everyone is invited to hike the preserve with the founders and founders’ families, who will share stories of how the organization was formed. Since LRWP was founded in 1990 to restore some of Indiana’s original wetlands that had been lost, the nonprofit has restored and protected more than 1,000 acres of wetlands including Eagle Marsh, the largest nature preserve in Allen County.
