7TH ANNUAL RUN FOR RILEY

Getting ready to run or walk the Fort 4 Fitness or another road race this weekend? Good for you—now let’s keep that training going. Sign up now for the 7th Annual Aboite Podiatry Run for Riley, October 13th at Maplecreek Middle School.

“What the really great thing about this is race is that 100% of race registration goes to the kids at Riley Hospital for Children,” says Dr. Lynn Stafford, podiatrist at Aboite Podiatry Associates on W. Jefferson Boulevard and the title sponsor of the race. “It’s always an easy decision to support Riley Hospital for Children. And what better way to do it with a run and walk!”
Every registered participant gets a free dinner from Casa’s Restaurant, a long sleeve technical shirt and a free work out pass to any Max Fitness, Illinois and Scott Roads, Maplecrest and Rothman, and Lima and Dupont. Register for the race at runforriley.org, and LIKE Run for Riley on Facebook.

“We are encouraging participants to make a First Giving page,” says Riley Northeast Regional Leadership member Barb Richards. “On the front page of runforriley.org, there is a link to First Giving. Follow the link and set up a giving page that makes it easy for your family and friends to donate in honor of you, or share a story about a Riley patient and honor them!” Richards aid that in previous years several people raised thousands of dollars that way. “It was so great to see the look on those kids faces when we announced the total dollars raised!” The total is announced at the conclusion of the race and awards that day.

Almost $77,000 has been raised in the past 6 years. Jim Berry, creator of the Run for Riley and its race director says the goal is to break $100,000! “We can do it but we need close to 1000 participants to make it happen,” Berry said. The race averages around 800, “so it’s a doable goal!”

The race is at 2pm and starts and stops at Maplecreek Middle School. A downloadable brochure is available at runforiley.org. And remember 100% of the $25 race registration goes to the kids at Riley Hospital for Children.
