CITY COUNCILMEN PRAISE STATE

Fort Wayne City Councilmen Mitch Harper, R-4th and Russ Jehl, R-2nd expressed gratitude to Governor Mike Pence, the Allen County legislative delegation and the Indiana Legislature as a whole for providing much needed road repair for our Fort Wayne/Allen County area; Fort Wayne will receive an additional $4.2 million over the next two years.

“Earlier this year, Councilman John Crawford, Councilman Jehl and I, initiated the process of using $1 million in Legacy funds to begin neighborhood street repairs that have fallen far behind in schedules of repair. This added infusion will help Fort Wayne residents’ realize even greater results,” said Harper.

In this year’s state budget, with re-allocation from various sources to the Transportation Funding, Fort Wayne will see an increase of $2.1 million per year for 2014 and 2015 for vital repairs to neighborhood streets and high-travel roads through the city.

“Our streets, especially neighborhood streets, have been neglected and are falling into disrepair. I’m glad we have begun to address the issue, and this new funding initiative from the State will be a huge boost. We will continue to build off this momentum to restore the City’s infrastructure. Our State legislators deserve applause. This is very good news,” Jehl said.

Councilmen Jehl and Harper look forward to continued progress and good working relationships with the local delegation next year.
