FORT WAYNE 1X1 PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT KICKS OFF

Wunderkammer Company announced the initial exhibition of the Fort Wayne 1×1 Photography Project. Its scheduled grand opening happened on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Wunderkammer Company’s new gallery space at 3402 Fairfield Ave. (formerly Casa Restaurant on Fairfield).

The opening was held on December 15, but the exhibition runs through January 30, 2013. Showings by appointment between Dec 15th-Jan 2nd. Beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2013, Hours are: 1pm-9pm, Wednesday-Sunday. Suggested Donations of $2 for non-members. Admission is free to members.
The 1×1 Project began in June 2012 with Fort Wayne photographers accepting the mission of systematically documenting the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana by creating and revealing a diverse portrait of our city: its people, architecture, history, charm, neighborhoods, industry, parks and waterways, its heart and even its minutia . . . one square at a time.

Each month, participating photographers set out to document a different section of the incorporated city. The initial kick-off exhibit features approximately 60 images selected by juror, and long-time Fort Wayne photographer and professor, Karen Thompson. They include photographs made of sections of the city photographed since June. The project continues each month through Fall 2013 when a final exhibition will occur featuring juror-selected images from all sections of Fort Wayne.

All printed work created for the two exhibitions will be donated to the Fort Wayne Historical Society for archival storage. All images submitted by the participating photographers each month are made available online for public viewing at: fortwayne1x1.tumblr.com

This program was made possible in part by a grant from Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne.

Wunderkammer Company is a not-for-profit working to revitalize communities through contemporary art. (Cara Lee Wade and John Gevers serve with Dan Swartz as FW 1×1 Project facilitators.)
