122ND FIGHTER WING MOVES A10 TO AIR PARK
The 122nd Fighter Wing moved an A10 Thunderbolt II to Heritage Park; the air park at the front of the base. The 19,000 lbs aircraft was sling loaded and flown across the base and into place by a CH-47 Chinook from the Company B, 2nd Battalion, 238th Medium Lift Aviation Unit, Peoria, Illinois.
Ferguson Road between Bluffton Road and Airport Drive was closed during this time to allow for a 400 ft. radius that is required by safety requirements.
