5K RACE FOR PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS
The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge 5K Race, one of the premier men’s health race and event series in America, was held in Fort Wayne on October 13, 2012.
Racing from Portage Middle School at 9am on Saturday morning about 250 men and women, athletes, cancer survivors, physicians, caretakers, family members and friends raced their way around Rockhill Park and through the Wildwood Addition on the Southwest side of the city raising awareness for prostate cancer.
32 cities nationwide combine their efforts with a mission to raise money for prostate cancer awareness. In 2012, the goal is to raise more than $1 million said national officials.
After the event, volunteers from Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana served a pancake breakfast including bananas, energy bars and orange juice.
