BISHOP KEVIN RHOADES VISIT
Bishop Kevin Rhoades came to visit St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School on January 4, the feast day of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Bishop Rhoades began his journey to the St. Joseph campus where he visited with the 5th through 8th graders, speaking and answering questions. He had lunch there, and then traveled to the St. Elizabeth campus mid-day.
At the St. Elizabeth campus, Bishop Rhoades met with the students in the Parish Activity Center. He first met with the kindergartners and first graders, then with the 2nd graders and finally with the 3rd and 4th graders. The 2nd graders presented Bishop Rhodes with a gift of a blue St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School blanket.
Bishop Rhoades answered questions, talked about being a bishop and also spoke about the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Bishop Rhoades talked about the strong connection he feels with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, having gone to school and worked in the same city that St. Elizabeth Ann Seton lived and worked in — Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Bishop Rhoades ended the school visit by presiding at an all-school Mass in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s church with students, parents and parishioners. Fathers Jim Shafer, Tim Wrozek and Drew Curry also co-presided at the Mass. Bishop Rhoades greeted students and parishioners after the Mass.
