TAKING YOUR TEAM TO THE SUMMIT
In June of this year Dr. Tom Blake left his downtown Waynedale dental practice for a two week vacation trekking a journey to the top of Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro. At 19,336 feet, it is the world’s tallest walkable mountain. In reflecting on his 60-mile climb, Blake said, “The time on Mount Kilimanjaro is something I will never forget.”
While sharing his experiences, Dr. Blake also brought to The Fort Study Club on Friday, November 12, 2010, an inspiring lecture titled, Taking Your Team to the Summit. Goals for the day included: Where the practice is now and where will it be in a year from now. Team building and, growing—a never ending experience.
“What you choose to focus on when things get tough will determine everything,” Blake said. “It’s not always easy-sometimes it gets rocky, just like the climb down Mount Kilimanjaro, but the end results should be SMILE.” SMILE is Dr. Blake’s motto in his practice. S-Simplify for sanity. M-Mutual respect. I-Integrate with no heat. L-Love on our patients. And E-Encourage each other. When a practice is growing there is a vision he said. And when taking your practice to a new height Dr. Blake reflected that there is also PMA-Positive Mental Attitude.
