Reading Counts is a FWCS reading program where the students read books and then take a computer test. They receive points for correct answers. Waynedale Elementary School’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are participants in the reading program.
Students receive a prize each week for reaching 25, 50, 75 and lunch with the principal for 100 points.
Every quarter, students who have passed their goal are treated to something special. They have gone to the movies, ice skating, roller skating, and participated in the annual Party in the Park (Waynedale Splash Park).
This semester, the top two point earners were 5th graders Sara Livengood, 541points and Jacob Crozier, 521 points. Student readers at Waynedale Elementary School earned 17,497 and read 33,903,680 words.
