DONALD G. SMITH, 77

DONALD G. SMITH, 77, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital. Born September 18, 1931, in Honaker, Va., he retired from Conrail as a Conductor. He was a member of American Legion Post 296, Masonic Lodge and Shrine, and the VFW. He served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley D. (Pendergrass) Smith of Fort Wayne; daughters, Terry Smith and Michele (Bob Jr.) Voirol, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole and Andrea Voirol, and Chad Smith; and great-grandchildren, Keaton, J.T., Addy, Gage and Isiah; sister, Helen Sargent of Gallion, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by twin son, Jerry Smith; parents, Roby G. and Mattie L. (Griffith) Smith; brother, Dallas Smith.

Service was Friday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, Fort Wayne. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
