MARCIA ADAMS TO SPEAK AT “GO RED FOR WOMEN” LUNCHEON
The American Heart Association is proud to announce that Marcia Adams, Fort Wayne resident, author, former television host and heart disease survivor, will be the featured Keynote Speaker at the first-ever Fort Wayne Go Red For Women Luncheon on June 4, 2009.
Marcia Adams will share her personal story of survival following a heart transplant in 2001. “I am grateful to have lived in Ft Wayne. I had to have a heart transplant and the heart team was determined to give me another chance at life. So was I. It was through American Heart Association research that I am alive today,” said Marcia.
“We’re really excited about the inaugural Go Red For Women Luncheon because the public and more importantly women, need to be aware of risk factors and other issues related to cardiovascular disease. Most women don’t realize that cardiovascular disease can often be reversed by making healthy lifestyle changes and choices. The Go Red For Women Luncheon will help get this message out,” said Lynne Gilmore, Chair of the 2009 Fort Wayne Go Red For Women Committee and a heart attack survivor. Heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases are the #1 killer of women in our country. In fact, one-in-three women has a form of cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular disease kills one woman every minute. But the good news is research shows that 96% of women who “Go Red” makes at least one choice to improve their heart health.
The 2009 Fort Wayne Go Red For Women Luncheon will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Landmark Conference and Reception Centre from 10:00am-2:00pm. This empowering, half-day event includes educational breakout sessions, free health screenings, exhibits, a heart healthy lunch, and a Go Red ‘Purse-onalities’ Silent Auction. Women are as unique as their purses with their own style and personality. Show your support by bidding on the ‘Purse-onality’ that best suits you. Guests are invited to wear red to show their support for women fighting heart disease and stroke.

Am I Having a Heart Attack?
Join Sabeena Ramrakhiani, MD, a cardiologist with Heart Center Medical Group, as she arms you with the information you need to know to recognize a heart attack. Dr. Ramrakhiani will also cover risk factors for heart disease and how you can prevent and lower your chances of getting it. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
