GRADUATION CEREMONY PREPARATION

With graduation ceremonies just a few weeks away, Fort Wayne Community Schools’ high schools are busy making preparations for the events. Each school’s ceremony is a time-honored tradition and a source of pride for the school district and community. In an effort to see the ceremonies remain the dignified events they should be, the high schools have collectively agreed on uniform procedures this year.

Tickets

To assist with seating, each school will distribute tickets for admission to the ceremony. Each student will receive four tickets for premium seating in the front or lower section of the graduation area as well as receive six general admission tickets for upper or back sections. If more of either ticket are needed, parents or guardians will be required to complete a request form and submit it to the school. Only parents or guardians will be allowed to pick up the tickets.

Late Arrivals

Those arriving late to a graduation ceremony will be allowed into the ceremony but will be directed to the back seating section of the Memorial Coliseum arena or expo. No one will be allowed to enter the area where the graduates are seated once the ceremony has started, regardless of their ticket. There will be no re-entry allowed into the area where graduates are seated. If a premium ticket holder leaves the area, they will not be allowed to re-enter.

Diploma Distribution

Students will receive their diploma cover during the ceremony with the actual diploma distributed afterward when students return to the staging area. Students who toss their cap or other items or cause a disruption during the ceremony will not receive their diploma immediately after the ceremony. The student and their parents will need to contact the school and schedule a time to meet with the principal to receive the diploma. All graduation ceremonies take place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at the following times:

North Side – 6 p.m. Friday, June 5

Elmhurst – 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5

South Side – 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6

Snider – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6

Wayne – 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6

Northrop – 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6
