“TASTE OF WAYNEDALE” TO BENEFIT AREA HUNGRY

What better way to raise funds for Community Harvest Food Bank to help feed struggling local families than an opportunity for the public to sample delicious food from Waynedale restaurants? “Taste of Waynedale” hosted and sponsored by Kingston Residence, located at 7515 Winchester Road, will offer samples of area restaurant specialties and a silent auction to benefit Community Harvest Food Bank on Tuesday, March 24th from 4:30-7pm.

“We are thrilled that Kingston Residence has stepped forward to offer this unique and exciting event to help draw attention to the need in northeast Indiana,” says Jane Avery, Community Harvest Executive Director. “We have never seen this level of demand for food assistance in our 25 year history. Some of our programs have seen a 205% increase. Those numbers are staggering and they just keep growing.

However, we are humbled by the individuals and good corporate citizens, like Kingston Residence, who have come forward to help,” says Avery.

Community Harvest Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization in northeast Indiana, annually distributing nearly 10 million pounds of food. Community Harvest collects wholesome surplus food and grocery products, donated by the food industry and other donors, and utilizes it for hunger relief. The food is distributed, by nearly 500 churches and human service agencies in its member agency network, serving 16,500 unduplicated clients per week throughout its 9 northeast Indiana county service area. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, and youth and senior citizen programs. Community Harvest Food Bank is a member of Feeding America and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry (FIsH).

“Taste of Waynedale is an ideal way to raise awareness about our hungry neighbors,” said Avery. “We really appreciate all the hard work Kingston Residence is putting in to ensure its success. They have a strong history of supporting Community Harvest and we can’t thank them enough for their efforts!”

Area restaurants who are participating include: Azar’s Big Boy, Belmont Beverage Store, Casa D’Angelo, Cap ‘n Cork, China Palace, East of Chicago Pizza, Hall’s Original Drive-In, Hill’s Meat Market, Hungry Howie’s Pizza, Jim K’s Pizza, Key III Candies, Minnie’s Diner, Nine Mile Restaurant, Pike’s Pub, Pizza Hut, Red Rooster, Scott’s Foods, Spyro’s Pancake House, Subway, The Stand, Walmart, Waynedale

Bakery and Waynewood Inn. In addition, there will be over 35 Silent Auction items to bid on that have been donated by local businesses.
