JAPANESE SISTER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL VISIT BLHS
Bishop Luers High School and Fushiki Senior High School (Takaoka, Japan) to celebrate 25 years of their relationship as sister schools
Bishop Luers is one of only four area schools to have an official student exchange program with a Takaoka area high school. As part of this exchange sponsored by Fort Wayne Sister Cities International, 20 Japanese students and 2 teachers will attend classes and participate in group activities during their visit. Some of the highlights of their visit are:
*Monday, March 23, 10:30 AM: Group will meet with Mayor Tom Henry in his office in the City-County Building
*Monday, March 23, 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Group will have a hands-on demonstration of different aspects of the Japanese culture for their host families and other Bishop Luers students in the Luers Media Center, 333 E. Paulding Rd, Fort Wayne. Activities will include calligraphy, origami, chopstick technique, playing with Japanese toys and children’s games, how to wear a kimono or yukata correctly, and Japanese pop music.
*Tuesday, March 24, 9:30 AM: Group will perform a traditional Japanese dance and songs for the student body at an assembly at Bishop Luers High School.
