FORT WAYNE SOUTH SIDE GRAD INTERNING WITH SENATE
South Side High School graduate Steve Truong has been selected as an intern in the Indiana Senate, said Sen. Tom Wyss (R-Fort Wayne).
Son of Nga M. Truong of Fort Wayne, he is working with the duplicating office during this, the 116th Indiana General Assembly.
“Duplicating office interns like Steven help prepare committee packets and distribute both committee and Senate schedules to various Senate offices,” Wyss said.
According to Wyss, interns like Truong will also witness discussions and debates on balancing the state budget, permanently capping property taxes, protecting education funding and higher education accessibility, continuing job creation and streamlining government.
Truong graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne – the same school Wyss graduated from – and majored in accounting and finance.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Indiana State Senate,” Truong said. “I am looking forward to learning as much as I can during this legislative session.”
Wyss said Truong’s intern experience will run the length of this legislative session, which continues through April 29.
Applications for the Indiana Senate’s 2010 internship program are due October 15. Wyss said interested persons can get more information at www.in.gov/legislative/senate_republicans/2339.htm.
