TRUCK BODY MANUFACTURER TO EXPAND ITS WAYNEDDALE OPERATIONS

$1.1 million investment planned; 28 new jobs to be added by 2011

Truck Engineering Ltd., LLC, a manufacturer of dump truck bodies for heavy trucks, announced that it will expand its design and manufacturing operations here creating 28 new jobs by 2011. The company, a leader in design and production of stainless, carbon, and ultra high strength steel dump truck bodies for municipalities and fabrications for defense contracts, will invest over $1.1 million to upgrade its facilities. The project will enhance production capacity at the company’s 30,000 square foot manufacturing and headquarters building at 4401 Bluffton Road on the city’s south side.

“Indiana continues to outrun our Midwestern competitors for new job-creating investment from companies like Truck Engineering. Home-grown successes like this further strengthens Indiana’s economy and creates new opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Governor Mitch Daniels.

Founded in 1924, Truck Engineering currently employs 23 associates and will begin hiring additional design and manufacturing associates this fall ahead of the completion of facility upgrades in 2009.

“We are pleased that our business has grown to the point of needing this additional capacity,” stated Clinton Wall, president & CEO of Truck Engineering. “Not only will we be able to service existing customers more efficiently, the upgrades we have planned will allow us to go after new business to help grow our customer base.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Truck Engineering up to $150,000 in performance-based tax credits and $32,500 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The City of Fort Wayne has pledged a $10,000 grant to help offset a small portion of the planned reinvestment. In addition, the Fort Wayne Common Council will consider phasing in property taxes associated with the project. Truck Engineering could save approximately $54,000 while still paying over $71,000 in local property tax over ten years.

“We should all be proud of the work Clinton Wall and his team are doing on Bluffton Road,” added Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. “We know how tough the vehicle industry can be. To see a small company like this growing and reinvesting in its future is just great. The City of Fort Wayne and our economic development partners will continue to do everything possible to support this important employer in our community.”

Additional local assistance provided to Truck Engineering comes from WorkOne Northeast. WorkOne is assisting the company by providing recruitment coordination for open positions, WorkKeys Assessment services valued at $4,600 and assistance in acquiring a Training Acceleeration Grant through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development worth approximately $160,000 for credentialed training of existing workers.
