THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT
AN AMAZING PITCHING ACCOMPLISHMENT
The other day the trivia question on TV was in 1965 what Chicago White Sox pitcher lead the team in both wins and saves?
When I heard that I stated, “That was not possible.”
The answer was Eddie Fisher 15 wins and 24 saves. 1965 was the year the White Sox finished second to Minnesota. Tommy John had 14 wins. John Buzhardt 13 and Joe Horlen 13. The other closer was Hoyt Willhelm with 20 saves and 7 wins.
Talk about records that will never be broken; this is a fear that I don’t think will ever be accomplished with the way pitchers are now.
