FRIENDS
Once there was a girl named Sidney. She had many friends, but her best friend was Kelsey. She wanted to be liked by everyone, though, another classmate Julie, was someone who was always being mean to her. She wasn’t a nice or caring person like she should be. So, Sidney decided to ask Kelsey if she could help.
“I know that you are friends with Julie, so I thought you could help,” Sidney told Kelsey. “Can you talk to her and tell her that we should all be friends?
Kelsey said, “Sidney! What’s up with you? I can’t make her your friend!”
Sidney just shrugged and said, “Well, I just want to know what she says when you talk to her.”
“Sidney, you know that she is really a strange person! Besides, you should ask her yourself. Don’t use me!”
“Please!” Sidney pleaded. I can’t do it. If I do it, I’ll make a fool of myself, and she might tell me off in front of everybody. I thought you would understand, Kels, but I guess not! That really hurts me, Kels.”
Then Kels thought a minute and said, “Sidney, I’m sorry, but I mean…like…well, it’s hard to be like…uh.” Kels couldn’t finish her sentence before Sidney walked out the door.
The next day at school, Kelsey came up to Sidney and said, “Julie said she would not ever be your friend and she thinks you are the big weird!” Sydney ran into the bathroom and just sobbed. How in the world could Julie be so mean?
She had tried to be nice to Julie, but nothing worked. Not even her friend, Kelsey, could change things.
So, Sidney learned that you can’t make someone like you, and it doesn’t matter, because there are so many other people who do. You can’t force a friendship. She was glad she learned this, so that she wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
