THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT

STILL HAVE YOUR BOBBING HEAD DOLL

The other day I received Warman’s Bobbing Head Field Guide from Edward Hamilton Bookseller at Falls Village, CT.

This soft cover book 4×5 inches contains more than 400 photos and listings of vintage sports bobbing heads, pop cultural icons, and buying and grading advice. Listed are baseball, basketball, football, hockey and non-sports bobbing heads. There are 132 pages of baseball photos, which are the most popular.

Forty years ago bobbing heads were a low-end item of memorabilia but the hobby of collecting these skyrocket and some of these dolls sell for hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars.

Checking some prices: the Warner Brothers Daffy Duck $750-$1,000. Charlie Brown doesn’t fair as well $125-$150, and many baseball $175-$250. An umpire I purchased from Gibson several years ago looks like $1,500 in mint condition.

Don’t sell your bobbing head dolls at your next garage sale until you investigate. A computer check may make you rich. No charge for this.

That’s the Way I Saw It.
