POSTAGE RATES INCREASE
With new postage rates taking effect on May 14, Fort Wayne Post Office customers have several options available to buy stamps besides the retail window.
The Forever Stamp, on sale now, sells at the new 41-cent First-Class Mail one-ounce letter rate. The value on these stamps will always be the one-ounce letter rate and can be used for any future one-ounce letter mailing without extra postage.
Along with local post offices, the stamp can be purchased a number of different ways. Stamps are available at many Fort Wayne businesses which include Copy Solutions, Meijer Inc. stores, White Swan Supermarket, select grocery stores, drug stores, and ATM’s. Stamp booklets of 20 are also available at usps.com or, by calling 1-800-STAMP-24.
Customers can purchase stamps at the Automated Postal Center located at the Main Post Office and Northwood Station, and even by calling (800) ASK-USPS to arrange for Stamps by Mail or Stamps by Fax.
It is anticipated that the week prior to and the first few weeks after the May 14 rate increase will result in heavier traffic than normal at local post offices. Use of the convenient options listed above may offer quicker access and little or no wait time to obtain the new Forever Stamp, 41-cent postage, as well as other postage and postal services.
