RUPRIGHT TO RETIRE

Jon L. Rupright, Vice President/Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, has announced his retirement from the college effective December 31, 2005. Some of our readers may remember Jon Rupright from his English teaching days at Kekionga Middle School, back in 1962.

Rupright has served Ivy Tech since 1982 and is only the second chief administrator in the history of the Fort Wayne campus. As Vice President/Chancellor he served as CEO of the Fort Wayne campus and as an officer of the statewide community college system.

During his 23-year tenure, the local Ivy Tech region has grown from 3375 students to 6683 students last fall. Also on his watch, the facilities on the Fort Wayne campus more than doubled in size. A classroom (110,000 square feet) and laboratory building was dedicated in 1996.

The search for a new Chancellor will begin immediately. An advisory search committee is currently being formed to assist the president of the college in the search for a new Chancellor. The president, in conjunction with the regional board of trustees, will present the successful candidate to the state board of trustees for approval.
