Bishop Luers art students worked on 6 of the 85 miniature Mastodons that were auctioned off along with 50 large Mastodons on Friday, October 21 at the Grand Wayne Center.

This event was part of a joint effort between IPFW and United Way. The funds raised at the auction will be given to the United Way of Allen County.

The miniature Mastodons are thirteen inches tall and twenty-two inches long. Each Mastodon was named. The mini Mastodons that were decorated by Luers students are: “Aphati Andita,” “Jumbo” the African Dancer, “Shah” India mosaic, Adoette,” “Altered Spectrum,” and “Kandy.”

Bishop Luers students received their “subjects” one week before they were due to be displayed at the “Final Stampede.” Barbara Sathers Art teacher at Bishop Luers along with twelve of Bishop Luers art students worked on the mini Mastodons which required 100 hours to complete.
