MID-AMERICA VOLKSWALK

The Auburn Duesey Walkers cordially invites everyone to a 10K volkswalk on Sunday afternoon, October 9, starting at 11am. This walk encourages physical fitness, promotes camaraderie and creates a love of the great outdoors with family, friends, your pet, or all by yourself!

The walk starts at the Mid-America Windmill Museum between 11am and 2pm-finishing at 5pm. It is located off State Road 6 east of downtown Kendallville, IN. There is a group discount admission fee of $1.50 for each adult-Children 12 and under free. Walkers paying a nominal fee can get an award for their efforts of a 3 1/2 ” x 10″ panoramic color picture featuring the many kinds of windmills at the museum, inside a clear stand-up frame that you receive after doing the walk.

Obtain a start card, get it stamped at checkpoints along a marked trail. You will see a short video about wind power and history of windmills before proceeding outside along the path of mills (50 of them) and on to wooded and wetland nature trails. Enjoy the walk around Bixler Lake with 3K going by neighborhood and Main Street Shoppes (antique shops), then on through the campground/picnic/beach areas. There will be brats, hot dogs, cookies and drinks available for a small donation starting at 10:30am. Also, recorded polka music. Bring your camera and binoculars for a great autumn stroll!
