GEORGE P. HORACEK SR., 86
GEORGE P. HORACEK SR., 86, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at his Fort Wayne residence. Born August 29, 1917, in Ludington, Michigan, he was a machinist with Zolner Piston, retiring in 1977, after 25 years. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, the American Legion Post 241, and Knights of Columbus 1492 in Ludington. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He enjoyed fishing, flying and reading. “He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who enjoyed his family.”
Surviving are his wife Ruth E. of Fort Wayne; daughters Linda K. (Alan) Bogner of Nokomis, Fla., Judith A. Lumpp of Tariffville, Conn., Kathleen “Kay” R. (Jack Ripple) Horacek and Maryjane Langton, all of Fort Wayne, Christine M. Gibson of Markle; sons George (Rick) Horacek Jr., Joseph E. (Laura) Horacek, all of Fort Wayne, Dennis L. Horacek of Kingman, Ariz., David M. (Maggie) Horacek of Fort Wayne, and John H. (Kathleen) Horacek of Ossian; sister Elanor Henneman of Ludington; brother Charles (Bernice) Horacek of Ludington; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Stephen E. Horacek; grandson Jeffrey S. Gammons; brothers Lawrence and John Horacek; and sister Marianne Britton.
Service with Military Honors by American Legion Post #241 was Friday, December 26, 2003 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road.
Burial was at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Arrangements by Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road.
