SMOKE ON THE WIND
POINTING FINGERS
Our father, Leonard Ebbing, always told my brother, James “Feather in the Wind,” and me to never point a finger in criticism of another. ‑Our father’s peaceful nature earned him the name “Leonard the Peacemaker,” with love and respect, by family and friends.
As I reflect on his wisdom and this Christmas season, I wish to share my thoughts about pointing fingers. ‑If we point our finger at ourselves as we look into a mirror, saying a prayer for peace, when we step away from the mirror we will be able to extend all our fingers to display an open hand. ‑We then can bring both hands together to say a prayer for Peace on Earth and Goodwill among all.
Finally, we put our hands together and place them over our hearts to feel The Holy Spirit beating within us and blessing us. ‑Then when we unfold our hands and extend our arms upward, I believe it’s okay to point a finger to Heaven and thank The Creator. ‑And thank you, Dad.
Your son,
Tom
