Bishop Luers
The Principal, Mary Keefer, of Bishop Luers High School announced recently that Clint Rorick and Joe Isca have been named Semifinalists in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship program.
To become Finalists, Semifinalists must have a record of very high academic performance, be endorsed and recommended by their school principal, andearn SAT scores that confirm their earlier qualifying test performance. The Semifinalist and a school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes the student’s self-descriptive essay and information about the Semifinalist’s participation and leadership in school and community activities.
Homecoming Week begins Monday, September 29th. There will be special activities at school all week. The homecoming football game is Friday, October 3rd, at Luersfield, 7pm. The game is preceded by a tailgate party. Alumni, parents, visitors, students, all are invited to attend. Hot dogs, chips and pop will be served for $2. Tailgating in the parking lot next to the field begins at 5:30pm.
Bishop Luers Drama Department is presenting an old classic “Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2003 at 7:30pm in the gym.
October 18th is Casino Night at Bishop Luers.

Wayne High School is fortunate this school year to be host for three foreign exchange students.
Alla Mineyeva is a soon-to be 16-year-old young lady from Russia. She lives in the city of Ufa with her parents and an older brother. She is enrolled as a junior this year.
Martyna Szymanska, who is 17, comes to us from Fort Wayne’s sister city of Plock, Poland. She lives there with her parents and an older sister. She is enrolled as a senior and plans to earn a diploma while here.
Tolgonai Dogochieva is a 17-year-old who comes to us from the country of Kyrgyzstan. She lives with her parents and two older brothers. She is also enrolled as a senior and hopes to meet all the requirements to earn a diploma.
