BRIAN MICHAEL CLEMENS, 19
Brian Michael Clemens, 19, an Indiana National Guard soldier, whose unit was sent to Kuwait last month, died in a Humvee accident while he and four others were on patrol. Spc. Clemens of Kokomo died in the accident near Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Four other Indiana National Guard soldiers suffered minor injuries. Clemens was a member of the National Guard’s 1st Battalion 293rd Infantry Regiment based in Fort Wayne. The accident occurred near Camp Arifjan in central Kuwait. The four other soldiers were medically evacuated and treated for injuries, one to the Kuwait Armed Forces hospital and three to the medical clinic at Camp Arifjan. No other details about the accident were immediately available. More than 650 members of Clemens’ unit were deployed last month to the Persian Gulf area as part of the Pentagon’s buildup of forces in the region for a possible war with Iraq..
