SCOUTING SMOKE SIGNALS
I hear Troop 38 is growing again. Two new Scouts crossed over recently from Cub Scout Pack 3038. Christopher Meyers and Brandon Meuchel joined the Panther Patrol and began working toward their first rank. Troop 38’s newest Committee Member is Todd Meyers who also comes from Pack 3038. After training, Mr. Meyers will become an Assistant Scoutmaster in the troop.
Troop 44 was at camp last week and the boys were still talking about the great time they had. Unfortunately I was out of town during the time they were there. I hear I missed some great fun. Maybe next year guys.
Although I wont’ be able to attend camp for the full session next week and get in some great canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, and fishing, I will get to visit for a little while and I’ll be remembering back when I used to go to camp. Oh by the way, I hear the food is great and there is plenty. No one has starved yet. Remember there’s always the trading post if you crave some snacks to hold you over between meals.
I was looking at our July calendar and noticed the Three Rivers Parade is scheduled for Saturday, July 13. Miami District has been selected to be the host District for the 2002 Three Rivers Day Parade Float. And I understand there will be several Scout groups taking part soooooo I will try to get some pictures and a few names for Smoke Signals next issue. If your troop/pack can’t be in it at least show up in uniform and watch it. People will notice.
Miami District Cub Scout Day Camp is scheduled from July 24 to July 26 at the Southwest Conservation Club. Each Pack should have the Day Camp registration forms by this time. Please make sure they are submitted soon to ensure your fun will be scheduled. Should you need reservation forms, questions answered or further information, please contact Bob Koehl at 456-2200 or Chester Machnowski at 478-7903. There is always a need for volunteers to help with the activities as well. Bob and Chester would be more than happy to utilize your help. Volunteer if you can! Remember, Cub Day Camp is one of the best ways to show your Scouts how much fun Cub Scouting can be.
All units: Get us some pictures of your group enjoying the summer and we’ll put them here in Smoke Signals. Let’s let our readers see what Scouting can be all about.
