IN MEMORY OF FIREFIGHTER PAT…
In a previous “Smoke on the Wind” article, I wrote a little bit about my career as a fire inspector with the Ft. Wayne Fire Department, assigned to the Waynedale area, and I also spoke about the oldest house in Allen County – that of Chief Richardville, a Miami Indian. ‑This house is located between Fire Station #5 and The Southwest Conservation Club on Bluffton Road.
I would like to share with you about another house. ‑The House of our Heavenly Father, who said, “In My house are many mansions.” Recently, Pat Vail, a firefighter whom I had the pleasure of working with, passed on through the Western Door, and as you read this, he is being shown around the House that has many mansions. Steve Bickus, who was my captain and is my friend, was Pat’s fishing buddy. He told me that Pat always looked forward to The Waynedale News and reading the Smoke on the Wind articles. Well, this one’s for you, Pat, and for all brother firefighters, veterans, and to everyone in the House of the Lord.
We send our Love and Light on The Smoke on the Wind.
